Ingredients

  • ½ cup Unsalted butter
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 3 large Eggs
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 3 heaping tablespoons All-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla extract
  • pinch Salt
  • dash Nutmeg
  • 1 Prepared deep dish pie crust, unbaked

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream the unsalted butter and sugar together using a hand mixer for about 3 minutes until light and fluffy.
  • Add the large eggs to the creamed mixture and mix until fully incorporated.
  • Pour in the buttermilk, all-purpose flour, vanilla extract, pinch of salt, and dash of nutmeg. Mix until everything is well combined with no lumps.
  • Pour the filling mixture into the unbaked deep dish pie crust.
  • Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 55 minutes to 1 hour.
  • The center should be slightly jiggly when done but not liquidy.
  • Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Use room temperature ingredients for a smoother batter, check for doneness around the 50-minute mark, and serve chilled for best flavor.
  • Customize spices and pair with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
