Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups Self-Rising Flour
  • 0.25 cups Sugar
  • 1.33 cups Milk
  • 2 large Eggs, lightly whisked
  • 0.5 cups Powdered Sugar
  • As needed Oil for Frying

Instructions

  • Combine the flour, sugar, milk, and eggs in a mixing bowl. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
  • Pour the batter into a ziplock bag and snip off one corner, or use a squeeze bottle for easier pouring when frying.
  • Add about two inches of oil to a deep pot or Dutch oven and heat it to 375°F (190°C).
  • Drizzle the batter into the hot oil, moving in a circular motion to create a funnel cake shape.
  • Cook each funnel cake for 1-2 minutes, or until it turns golden brown and crispy. Flip with a slotted spoon if necessary.
  • Transfer the cooked funnel cakes to a wire rack to drain and cool slightly.
  • Dust generously with powdered sugar and serve warm.

Notes

  • Opt for fresh oil to avoid unwanted flavors.
  • Keep an eye on the oil temperature and see if it maintains the desired heat throughout frying.
