Ingredients

  • 1 cup Unsalted Butter, softened
  • 3-4 cups Powdered Sugar, sifted
  • ½ cup Cocoa Powder, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 3-5 tablespoons Milk or Cream

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until it becomes fluffy and no lumps remain.
  • Turn the mixer to low and gradually add in 2 cups of the powdered sugar and then beat for 15 seconds to integrate smoothly.
  • With the mixer on low speed, carefully add the sifted cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and salt. Ensure everything is evenly combined.
  • Gradually beat in the remaining powdered sugar and alternate with milk or cream until the desired consistency is reached.
  • If the frosting seems too thick, mix in a little more milk or cream. If it's too thin, add more powdered sugar.
  • Beat the frosting on medium-high speed for another 10 seconds to ensure a silky texture.

Notes

  • For the best results, use room temperature butter and sift cocoa powder and sugar.
  • Extra mixing at the end will make the frosting fluffier.
  • For a mocha flavor, add espresso powder.
